Air only blows through the defrost vents and I know that could have something to do with a vacuum leak. (Photo shows controls, with headlights on, dimmer at max. 1997 - 2003 Ford F150 - Air through vents stops when accelerating. Originally the AC compressor would not come on at all so I added some Freon from a can and it came on to the point where it started cycling on and off. The only other thought I had was if those bulbs were in series with the bulbs behind blower switches, and headlight switch illumination! This has plagued me for 3 years, and it’s high time I figure out what’s keeping it from working! I pulled the bezel off the dash, and checked the 2 bulbs behind the climate control knobs. I’ve checked every fuse in the passenger compartment fuse-panel, (#10 was blown, but replaced), and I’ve visually checked every one of the fuses in the fuse-box under the hood. But I get no illumination behind these switches/knobs no matter what I do. Dimmer control works for the radio lights and cluster lights. (And also the illumination behind the blower speed knobs, and headlight switch/knob and dimmer switch) All instrument cluster lights work, radio lights work, power outlets work, all switches work. I replaced the fuses and all was well except the illumination behind my climate control knobs. A general rule of thumb is that if the chip is larger than a quarter or a crack is longer than 3 inches, then you should have the vans window replaced.Wife put jumper cables on backwards 3 years ago, and blew a couple of fuses. When should you repair or replace your Chevrolet vans windows?ĭamage generally comes in two forms, chips and cracks. This stress resulting from the temperature change increases the strength of the window, allowing it to easily handle the stress of normal driving. This is because the cooling process causes the outer layers of glass to cool quicker than the interior. Taking heated glass and cooling it quickly makes tempered glass which is several times stronger than normal glass. The side and rear windows in the Chevrolet Express 3500 are made from a different process to give them the strength to resist the natural shifting around a vehicle does when in motion. The PVB also reflects 95% of the suns UV rays giving an added layer of protection. It is due to this bond that shards of glass do not fly around after impact. The adhesive nature of PVB spreads out the force of impact creating the telltale spider web cracks you see in windshields involved in an accident. Through a process involving heat and pressure the three sheets are fused together creating a structure that is highly resistant to impact. I have a 2005 E-350 Super Duty XLT Ford Passenger Van. my 06 ford e250 ac fan blow thu floor and defrost vent only. My problem is the air stops blowing out of the dash vents when I have to push on the gas peddle. It is made by taking two sheets of glass and compressing a sheet of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) between them. I have a 2001 E150 ford van with 4.2L V6. The windshield of your Chevrolet Express 3500 is made from a tripartite structure called laminated glass. There are two specific forms of safety glass used in your vehicle to address these concerns. Follow the plastic vacuum line from the HVAC box (under the hood on the passenger side firewall) back to the engine to see if its cut, melted or unplugged. The two goals in developing adequate safety glass for your Chevrolet van are to protect passengers from injury and to maintain the structure of the vehicle. The first is from any form of impact, whether it is from another vehicle or foreign object, and the second is from the stress vehicle windows will endure from everyday driving. Flushing the heater core may remove blockage, but often. The main difference between auto glass and other types is the need to take two main factors into account. Coolant on the passenger side floor or below the cabin are signs that the heater core could be leaking. The Chevrolet Express 3500 model uses safety glass as opposed to the kind of glass you find in house windows or the mug in your cupboard. I have a 2001 E150 ford van with 4.2L V6.
